Suzan Kostanich

Suzan is an innovative fibre artist self taught her practice spans four decades. Primarily process driven her focus is the creation of surface texture and design, using wet felting techniques she laminates fine merino fibre and kozo (mulberry bark) fibres together. This surface provides the basis for further work with hand stitch and paint, "each piece of work is a journey through the personal, means to identify and translate experience into an external manifestation". This "canvas" then becomes either a 2 or 3D work, working intuitively she allows the process to evolve as it occurs, the end result is a unique piece which cannot be replicated.
