Our Core Purpose Vision

To be New Zealand’s premier Arts Trail and community promoting Taranaki Arts and experience.

Mission

  • Create a vibrant and dynamic Taranaki region as an Arts and Creative hub, through the showcase of the talents and diversity of both emerging and established Taranaki artists.
  • Grow the contribution of art to the economic success of the region.
  • The establishment of a strong annual event aimed at attracting people from outside the region will build the capacity of the artist and related businesses ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Develop positive working relationships with art related organisations and interested businesses within Taranaki to enhance the development of art tourism in the region.

Event’s Mission

  • To provide the public with the opportunity to interact with the artist in the artist’s studio/workshop.

About us

Visually inspiring, the volcanic landscape of Taranaki, with its ring of wild coastal beaches, green and pleasant land, myriads of clear streams and bush-covered slopes, all provide a beautiful backdrop to a fascinating weekend event held annually.

2024 we will be celebrating our 11th year of artist open studios.

Established in 2014 the Taranaki Arts Trail provides the public with the unique opportunity to meet with artists' in their studios and workshops. Ultimately, the Taranaki Arts Trail aims to build a greater understanding in the community of the processes involved and the skills required, in creating a work of art.

With the artists' studios extended over the two weekends and many artists for the full ten days; this year provides you a greater opportunity to visit and enjoy the artists' open studios.

Taranaki is your destination this spring, find out about events and all the things you can see and do while you are here on our Visit Taranaki page.

Studios Open: 9.30am - 4.30pm daily.
