WOOD is my canvas
HEAT is my paint
METAL tipped pen are my brushes
My Medium is PYROGRAPHY, otherwise known as woodburning, pokerwork
To make the art pieces you see above, using a heated metal tipped poker, I slowly by hand make burn marks on my wood.
I have been practicing this medium for about 3 years. The part that I love about woodburning is that each piece of wood behaves differently when I try and burn it. I have to figure out each time what metal tip works best with the wood, what temperature it best works at and can I push this piece of work in terms of speed of burning. I love it because it keeps me on my toes and makes each piece unique.
