Paul Burgham

Glass artist Paul Burgham's love of nature is reflected in his work. Bright yellow, kowhai, paua, fern, flax and volcanos feature in his lamps, photography and woodwork. Paul attributes his love of nature to his mother's teachings and later influence of art noveau, art deco and the arts and craft movement. The Eltham artist has a varied background including draughting and the restoration of historic buildings in England, France and Germany. He is proficient in the art of photography and woodwork. A major commission was the design, fabrication and installation of seven stained glass windows for the Mary Phelan chapel at Sacred Heart Collage. Also mosaic tiling for the Eltham Public toilets with over 4,000 tiles. Paul is passionate in the execution of his glass based art which he blends with such diverse materials such as pounamu, natural rock, jarrah wood, marble, copper, pewter and hebel block.
