With UE achieved, I found myself taking sculpture classes with Alice Taffy in her studio in Bogota, Colombia. Here I was introduced to the wonderful world of bronze casting and metal fabrication. Returning to Aotearoa at 21, I enrolled at Auckland University which led to a BA in Political Science and eventually a Masters in Spanish. Finally able to give all my time to sculpture, I built my first exhibition of bronzes which was shown at The Lane Gallery with Linda Chalmers. Making art and study occupied the following years resulting in me becoming a primary school teacher. Along the way I accumulated further qualifications that served to inform my art, plug knowledge gaps and satisfy my curiosity across a range of areas: business administration, te reo Maori, education, horticulture, mechanical engineering and maths. This plus general life demands limited my exhibiting to invitationals or sculpture events which accepted my submissions.
