My art has a strong connection between the environment and the subject of kaitiakitanga. I strongly believe we have a responsibility to act as guardians for our land not only for ourselves but for our children. Through my paintings I want to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation of the world around us and a sense of peace and quietness.
Before I begin a painting or drawing I will often start with a narrative , a poem or a proverb and that is where the image will often transcend from. I work in oils as this allows me to work on more than one painting at a time. I enjoy the colour and texture you can achieve with oils.
I am also painting art for children's spaces which allows me the freedom to have a little fun with water colours and acrylics - not to mention glitter and embellishments!!
My studio is very easily accessed on the main road in Patea.
