I am an artist living in Patea, South Taranaki. My practise explores intaglio & relief printmaking to convey concepts. I use metal, wood and lino plates, European papers and an industrial press in my dedicated studio space. I enjoy the historical origins and alchemy of the medium, the physicality of creating the plates and the magic of pulling a print. The mix of deliberate and random marks a plate collects and the variations of inks and printing applications opens up endless possibilities. The printmaking process relates to connectivity to materials and tools, meditation, repetition, experimentation and technical challenges. I construct landscape and figurative works that reference my interest in science, symbols, history, nature, language and the world. Themes explored in recent years include islands, icebergs, oceans, plants and horizons; collecting personal mythologies and ongoing narratives. Easy parking. Open other times of the year by appointment. All welcome.
