The idea of upcycling surfboards headed for the landfill, seemed like a unique way of combining my love of the ocean, surfing, the evolution and culture of surfing and my desire to explore my own creative talents.
To feel passionate about the subject matter is an amazing motivator for expressing the subject whether it be Surf Highway 45
, some secret south sea island location surrounded in mystery or just great memories of childhood holidays at a batch by the sea…the essence of Kiwiana all pervading.
The art work is done in acrylic paint pens, often on the bottom of the surfboard after it has been repaired to provide the “new” canvas. When finished the surface is sprayed with a high quality UV resistant finish. The artwork is then ready to be enjoyed all over again.
Plenty of parking on the road next to my studio/gallery on the day. I can be contacted on 0274545088
