Cherol Filbee

I have always found art and creativity irresistible and while in the thick of a project, all other activities become a rude intrusion. My work is eclectic in size, subject and medium and reflects my slant for the fun side of life with quirky, colourful pieces designed to entertain.

Subject is often less a matter of choice and more something that demands attention. My resident artist's cat Rocky has found his way into my workshop, chair and into my work as inspiration for my growing collection of feline pieces.

My current focus is papier mache (a primary school lesson never forgotten), which I like for it's durability and versitility. I've combined it with a lifelong fascination of puppetry in the creation of marionettes which I have also been sharing by running weekend workshops teaching students to make their own versions.
