I was taught the art of pottery by my parents, who were amongst the first professional potters in New Zealand. I have been potting for nearly 40 years and still get excited every time I open the kiln following a firing. My pottery includes birds, animals, nikau and seashells for the home or garden, and domestic-ware for food. Most of my work starts on the wheel, and it is all totally handmade - every piece has its own character. The range of clays, techniques, textures, and colours seem to be endless and developing these has become the challenges I enjoy.
