From early childhood paintboxes and art / craft materials have always provided hours of fun.
I am self taught, and began painting in watercolours while teaching overseas in Asia. I started painting mostly florals, but also experimented with miniatures of traditional city tea shop doorways, and market displays.
Back in New Zealand, the garden’s seasonal changes often provide something intriguing to paint. Be it colours or form that first attract, the more I observe the details, the more magical subjects appear.
I have more recently started working with coloured pencils and pastels, which provide their own challenges and excitement for further image creating.
