Lois Parkes

I have been doing art all my life, trying various media, and have taught pottery to all ages. My work includes hand-made one-off humourous pottery sculptures, which make great conversation pieces and add a touch of individuality to the homes of the people who buy them.

I write and illustrate children's books, which always support our unique New Zealand culture. They also rhyme and teach facts in a fun way. "How New Zealand Feels' is the first tactile (touch and feel) book with all the items totally NZ. "Creative Creatures" is a book of 16 native animals and each page is split across the centre so they can be mixed up to create 132 mystical beasts. I hand draw then colour the illustrations with my watercolour paint tray that i have had since I was nine.

I also make crockery mosaic mirrors, necklace holders and wall hangings. Fashion art, fabric art, acrylic paintings and several multi-media works are also part of my repertoire. Art is my passion and purpose and my work spills out of my home and into the garden. My imagination has always seen the quirky in my surroundings.

Come and see a myriad of artworks to tickle your own imagination.
