The journey and originality to leave behind contemporary artifacts for future generations to ponder over drives me to keep pursuing and perfecting my craft of carving old ponga stumps. I take inspiration from the flow of nature and organically let my sculptures evolve before giving them a bright colourfull coat to shine amongst the surrounding fauna. Over time I invite the moss, spider webs and plants to grow back into the sculptures giving new life and meaning to the surrounding area. I learnt early on that you cannot fight nature so you may as well work along side it. My ponga sculptures have been exhibited all over Taranaki including Percy Thompson Gallery, The Fernery in Pukekura Park and the Opunaki Art Awards. During the Taranaki Arts Trail I will be live carving out at Koru on Koru gallery in the beautifull Oakura countryside.
